Pine Canyon

Today we decided to go for a jeep ride and a hike. We drove out to the Pine Canyon trail head and took our time wandering up the path. Sam walked about a quarter of the time, and Eric carried him on his shoulders when he didn't feel like walking. Sam carried his own water and raisins. We took a long break once we got into the trees and before we hit the steep part of the trail. Sam spent some time rock climbing and Awyn got a snack. We also ate the raisins. The trail is 2 miles in, 2 out, so 4 all together. We left the house at 9:10 and got home around 5. So we were hiking at Sam's pace. That and the dirt road was a little rough, so no faster than 10 mph on most of it. At the end of the trail there was a little water trickling down the pour-off and even a little ice on the rocks. Sun doesn't really hit that valley. While we took pictures of the water and the end of the trail, they are a bit dark, as the camera was insisting on using the flash or taking blurry pictures. Enjoy the pictures we did post! We ate a late lunch in the shade by the jeep, spicy dill pickles, ham spread sandwiches, chips and water. It was great after a long hike.
