Whidbey Island

We stayed for two days on Whidbey Island with Joe and Val Hillers. We somehow managed not to get any pictures of Val, which is a shame. I guess we'll have to go back and visit again so we can fix that. We had so much fun! They are excellent hosts, with a fantastic home that they graciously invited us to visit.

Hey!

Yes, Awyn is pointing her finger at the camera and saying, "Hey!" Put some attitude into it, and you might come close to how she says it.

When Push Comes To Shove

Awyn wanted to hold onto the tail ribbons, and Sam didn't want her to, so he kept trying to pull her hands off of them. So Awyn knocked Sam to the ground and beat him up. We did break it up before they actually hurt each other.

Fort Casey

I remember spending a week at Fort Casey in the fifth grade - Fifth Grade Camp. Apparently it's still held, because my school was there! I found a volunteer between groups who was dressed in his Korean war uniform. He was giving history talks to each group as they came up. 23 years later, and they still go - wow! I remember how cool it was to stay in the dorms, learn how to canoe, walk the beach, and learn about the fort and the Triangle of Fire formed by Forts Casey, Flagler, and Worden to prevent an enemy slipping past into Puget Sound to Tacoma and Bangor where the naval shipyards are/were.

Tractor

Awyn wasn't as impressed with sitting in a tractor as Sam was. Sam would do anything Joe came up with. Except eating mussels. Last time we were out to visit, Sam was about Awyn's age, just under two. Val made sure to serve us a meal that had parts for him to eat, and he ate more mussels than any adult did. This time he wouldn't touch them. Awyn did try one, but spit it out. Oh well, more for the rest of us!

Washington Ferries

We went down to watch the Ferry arrive and depart. Sam thought we were going to get on it.

Joe's Cows

Joe had to show Sam the cows while Awyn was taking a nap. Sam was very impressed.

Port Townsend Ferry

We rode the Port Townsend Ferry to Whidbey Island. Sam and Awyn loved the chance to ride yet another ferry. Sam was upset when we drove off the boat. I believe naps were had by all just about the time we arrived at the Hiller's house.

It's just not a visit at the Olympic Game Farm without a Yak, or yak snot on your window.
