Yup, a picture of our backs

This was just to show that Awyn wore her backpack with lightsaber inside - even while riding on my back. The lightsaber was just in case she saw a monster.

More of our party

Awyn rode down in a mei tai carrier - she started out a little grumpy, and I was sure she'd fall asleep, but she didn't, and even perked up once she decided the cave monsters were friendly.

Visit with Grandparents

We didn't take very many pictures, so here's one of the few with Grandma Kathi and Grandpa Mike, and Maggie the dog, of course. Sam and Awyn loved getting a visit in, with all three of their visitors.

Sam's Antler

Sam, being Sam, and telling a long story about a deer and a knife and a man. It got a little strange, but it was at least creative.

Guadalupe

Sam and Awyn walk up to the Guadalupe Mountains visitor center, holding Sam's blanket.

Snugglers

Sam and Awyn like to snuggle together to fall asleep - although sometimes Awyn waits for Sam to fall asleep and then snuggles up next to him. There are times when he doesn't want to share his bed.

On the Fence

Sam climbed up, but couldn't climb down. I don't encourage this climbing of the fence; termites regularily snack on my fence so it's not the most stable thing in the world.

Sam gets the camera

Sam likes to take pictures. Sometimes they turn out well, others, well, not so much.

Awyn serves tea

and fish and chips... She cooked it up in her kitchen, and then set her table, and invited Sam and a teddy bear to enjoy.

Thank You Aunt Heidi!

New presents showed up at our house today, a very nice postscript to Christmas. Sam and Awyn greatly admired these outfits, but refused to try them on until I had them sorting laundry into piles for me, and suddenly I had naked children begging to wear their 'cool' new outfits. (Sam insists they are not cute or handsome, they are Cool.) Then they hammed it up so nicely for the camera, I couldn't resist posting this picture.

Sleeping

Last night Eric and Awyn crashed rather early, together. I had to take this picture. Sam helped me, and then I put him to bed.

Christmas Clean-up

Yes, Sam does like to vacuum. I see no reason to discourage this.

The Kitchen

This was the big present for Christmas for both kids. Awyn and Sam both love it, but Awyn gets very possessive when it comes to letting anyone else touch her kitchen. She's getting better as time goes by, and she relaxes her guard. Sometimes they can even cook at the same time. She does spend much time putting her kitties in the oven and microwave though, and that's a hair disturbing.

Robot Toy

All Sam wanted for Christmas was a Robot Toy. He asked Santa for this, he asked us for this, and his cousin Kyle totally came through for him - Sam loves his robot! (we like it too!)

Presents!

This Awyn could get into. In fact, we really had to watch her, because she'd tear into anyone's present just to keep opening stuff.
