Donut Song

They are learning their colors. This is a good sized class with six children, evenly numbered, three boys, three girls. Note Awyn's sitting next to her brother. When we went to pick him up she just had to join the class. Mrs. Kelling was great - she let Awyn participate in the song, learning about colors and counting.

Art Work

They were very busy on their first day. This art was too wet to take home yet.

Guess who's jealous?

Yes, Awyn didn't understand why Sam got a backpack, and got to go to dance, and to school. She was indeed very jealous. I'm not sure what I think of this picture. I think I almost look my age. That's not grey in my hair, it's just a reflection.

Pumping Gas

Eric took the kids on a hike to Boquillas Canyon on Monday. I was, of course, working. All these pictures make me jealous. Now I want to go climb a sand dune and scoot to the bottom. Well, I should get the chance soon enough. Soon all the staff will be back from furlough and all the positions will be filled, and I can go back to my relatively light work schedule.

Awyn's turn

Actually, I think the kids did more of a scooting thing than a sliding.

Payoff

What goes up, must come down. Naturally, sliding is the best way to descend from a steep giant sand dune.

Have you noticed yet that Awyn has her kitty in every picture? Kitty goes everywhere Awyn goes.

Sam throws a rock in to the Rio Grande

This seems like a good idea, so Awyn decided to copy him.

Where is she going?

That's right, Awyn walked all the way across the sand to the last place she saw rocks.

So Awyn throws her rock!

Motorcycles

Ah, the season is beginning, the season of hundreds of motorcycles, all wanting to drive through the park. Lines of them, I tell you, 3 deep by 20 rows at a time. Next weekend is Ride for Trails. Actually, I don't mind the bikes. I do wish they weren't so loud, but mostly they're pretty easy going people.

Road Rainbow

I saw this while driving home the other day. I thought I'd share the rainbow.

Holy Underwear, Awyn!

Yes, Awyn just did Burger Night in panties. She's moving almost faster than her body can handle, but she's determined to use the potty all the time now. We haven't had accidents for quite a while now. She does get diapers/pull-ups at night, but during the day, at least at home, she's in panties. She does miss her Blues Clues diapers, and asks for them, but she then wants them off to use the potty.
